I am really excited for this opportunity to expand my volleyball career. I think I only ever dreamed about playing professionally. And after this last season at Washington State, I think it became more evident that it was a possibility for me. And so being able to, you know, finish my season in the Sweet 16 and then within two weeks have this contract signed was so awesome. And it really is a dream come true.
I had heard about the Canary Islands, but being American, didn’t know much about the islands themselves. And so looking them up and just seeing like where I’m moving to and where I’m going to be able to play is just so unbelievably beautiful. And I couldn’t ask for a better place to play in. And another thing is that I’m just extremely passionate about the sport. And so being able to play it at this high of a level, it’s just like, I can’t wait. I really can’t wait for it.
For Tenerife, like, I’ve obviously I’ve been to Europe plenty of times. I’ve never been to Spain. But so I don’t know much of the Spanish language. I know a little bit, but I downloaded Duolingo. So I’m going to try my best to learn as much Spanish as I can. I’m sure you guys know English, but for me to get around better, I just can’t wait to immerse myself into the community and the culture and even the fans. Like I’m excited to see how the whole community is. And I’m also like eager to see where my potential is as a volleyball player and to expand my skills. I want to see how well I can fit into this high level environment. And I hope I can adjust quickly and learn really fast because, you know, it’s the middle of season. And so I’m not in an easy position, but I hope and I’m sure that I’ll be able to manage.
In terms of volleyball, I think I’ve always been someone that can add a lot of energy to the court. And I already saw a couple of games and it looks like the girls have a lot of fun. So I’m excited to be in addition to that energy that they have. I’m also, again, extremely passionate. So I’m going to be competitive in the gym, on the court, in games and practice. And yeah, I’m just super excited. I’m also looking forward to, I’m a middle. And so in the US, the middles don’t always serve. It’s always, you’re allowed to have one middle server. You can get a serving sub, but in Europe, the libero doesn’t serve at all. And so I’m excited to serve and like play defense. I got to play a little bit at Washington State, but I’m excited to also just see the difference in the volleyball.
When I went last year with my UC Davis team, where I played at UC Davis for four years, and then I played at Washington State for this last season. And with my UC Davis team, we went to Europe and we played volleyball in Slovenia and in Prague and it just, the style of volleyball is different. It’s much more powerful. The ball is different. The court’s different. Everything’s different. And so I’m just excited to see how I can adjust. And yeah, I’m just, I cannot wait to get out there. And again, like super grateful for the opportunity and yeah. So hopefully that’s good answers. But yeah, I’m super excited and I can’t wait to meet you as well. Meet all the coaches, staff, players, everything. It’s going to be a quick turnaround, but I’m ready.
No puedo esperar a salir.
